FIRM PHILOSOPHY 

JDH is a Texas based company.  Our primary area of practice includes Central Texas; specifically the Austin, San Antonio, and Hill Country markets.

 

However, we have regularly gone outside this primary area, and have completed assignments in virtually every metropolitan area of Texas and in thirteen other states and territories.  

 

Mr. Hinton has also completed appraisal services in Mexico and has traveled widely lecturing on valuation issues and techniques in Russia, Uzbekistan, Kenya, and Slovenia for a variety of government and quasi-governmental agencies.

 

We have been engaged by clients to address the unusual (Roswell Airbase Hanger Facility reportedly originally recipient of alien visit) to the large and complex (Proposed $500 million hotel in New York City).

 

In addition, Mr. Hinton is rountinely sought out by other appraisers to consult and brainstorm on complex valuation issues.

 

Finally, Mr. Hinton is somewhat unique in that he has both training and experience appraising throughout the entire gamit of real property, personal property, and business value interests.

Ten years ago, large firms had a distinct advantage over smaller boutique firms. While both were at parity on the basis of intellectual capital, large firms had the budget and economies of scale to afford large staffs, expensive technical infrastructure and software.

 

However, as a result of the internet, software and hardware cost efficiencies, this landscape has been forever changed.

 

Even the smallest firms have access and experience with the same tools, databases, and statistical tools that the large national firms and accounting practices historically utilized.

 

In fact, at JDH we feel a kinship with the bucanneers of the past. In that way, we view ourselves as nimble mariners navigating quickly and swiftly around the bloated flotillas of the larger firms.

 

This is evidenced by a more affordable fee structure (due to lower overhead), quicker response, and more direct principal-client interaction, to name just a few. 

Our history and firm's success has been grounded in the following mission:

 

JDH Asset Valuation Group will be recognized as “the most genuine voice in the industry” if we continually strive to provide professional, sophisticated valuation counsel, on a cost-effective basis and in a timely manner.

 

The following specifically summarizes the philosophy and culture of the firm:

 

(1.)  We believe that quality of service comes before firm growth. We will not grow our firm for the sake of growth, but rather on a strategic basis where it is client driven.

 

(2.) We live and die by our reputation; our reputation of competency and integrity. We will not sacrifice either, for any reason, period.

 

(3.) We will go to the extreme to provide excellent service to our clients. We realize that, in some cases, this might mean a sacrifice in short term profits to our firm. However, in the long run, we believe this philosophy will be mutually beneficial to both our clients and the firm.

 

(4.) Our clients have rewarded us financially. Consequently, we believe they deserve the highest level of competence  that the firm can offer, on every project. To this end, while other members of our firm or strategic partners may work on a project, Mr. Hinton will have primary supervision over every project.

 

(5.) While we are a boutique firm, we believe that we have the capacity to compete with the largest firms on the basis of intellectual capital. We pledge to continually strive to be informed about and implement new information and standards in our analysis and work product.
